About the BRI

Launched in 2005, our overarching mission is to accelerate discoveries that improve human health; supporting strategies include fostering groundbreaking, interdepartmental, and interdisciplinary research, ranging from basic fundamental studies to clinical innovations.

We strive to provide a clear voice (internally and externally) for the entire Brigham research community, raise the profile of research at the Brigham, develop mission-centric collaborations with external entities and engage the scientific community in fundraising.

BRI Funding Opportunities

Our Strategies

We support research excellence by providing funding for members of the Brigham research community.

Our support also includes sponsoring and co-sponsoring events, including Discover Brigham, leadership retreats, industry liaisons, scientific symposia and poster sessions throughout the year.

We provide a voice for the scientific community and work to bring greater visibility to research at the Brigham, including through our Research Website Development Service, where we have built more than 350 websites for researchers in the past five years.

BRI Centers, Programs & Priorities

At the Brigham Research Institute, we meet research challenges. Our focus shifts as medicine shifts in new and innovative ways. During the pandemic, the BRI provided extensive support for the Mass General Brigham Center for COVID Innovation. These groups have provided researchers with the resources for collaboration, networking, and science communication over the past 15 years.  They have also supported researchers through funding ranging from $500 Microgrants, currently accepting applications on a rolling basis, all the way up to the $500,000 BRI Director’s Transformative Award in 2017, workshops, poster sessions, seminar series and research symposia. These interdisciplinary and interdepartmental research opportunities spark innovation, collaboration and community.
